Matthew C. Morrey, MD, attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and received his medical degree in 2004. Then, he served orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. His training focused on primary and revision adult reconstruction of the hip and knee. In addition, Dr. Morrey received board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He remains an active member of the Texas Medical Association, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a BA degree acquired at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and a MS degree in Medical Illustration from the Medical College of Georgia. Following his master’s degree, he worked as a professional Medical Illustrator for three years prior to returning to medical school. Dr. Moorey continues to author book chapters and is active in clinical research. He remains interested in resident education and innovative methods of continuing education that utilize his medical illustration background.
